High Definition Broadcasting

High Definition Broadcasting is when a television programme or film is recorded using the best quality equipment in order to give as good a quality and detailed picture as possible. This means that the viewer is able to see even small details very clearly.
It is important that the make-up and hair are done well in television and film anyway but it is even more important when high definition broadcasting is being used as any mistakes will be seen by the viewer. Make-up needs to be blended in well, especially base make-up as any harsh lines of foundation will be seen. This is especially important in cases when the characters are not supposed to look like they are wearing make-up for example in period dramas. Also if any other element of the make-up is messy or uneven it will show up on camera and will look very unprofessional as well as being distracting. The hair needs to be sleek as any flyaway hair will show up on screen as will any out of place pins and grips. However if the hair and make-up are completed to a good standard then high definition broadcasting can work in your favour as the viewer will be able to see your work clearly and all the small details you have taken time perfecting will show up. I think high definition broadcasting makes make-up and hair artists strive to be better and puts pressure on them in a good way to make their work as good as possible.
